To my understanding, a standard business degree does not usually get you very far. People usually combine other majors (computing, health care, etc) with business to give them an edge in the competitive marketplace. Is it possible to double major at IU Kelley as a Direct Admit? How difficult are the informatics and computer science courses?

Kelley vs McCombs
I know I am going to get biased responses...but that's the point.
Currently, I am deciding between McCombs Business School and Kelley.
I am a direct admit of both Kelley and the Hutton's Honor College and will be applying to ACE. I did NOT apply to the honors program at McCombs nor any other honor colleges.
Does anyone have a compelling narrative or something convincing to say that points to the notion that Kelley is better than McCombs? I would like to hear your perspectives on why you think the Kelley School of Business is prestigious and what you like about it(opportunities, environment, internships, etc).

Accepted into Indiana University- Bloomington, but am I in the business school?
I got the email today from Indiana, but it only says I am admitted, not specifying whether or not I made it to the business program. I said on my application that I intended on going to the business school so do I only have admission to the university or the business school as well?

I'm applying To IU Bloomington, but I don't know if will get in.
I'm senior in high school, and want to get in IU. The thing is my ACT and SAT scores are not good.
ACT: 18
SAT: 1070

Weighted GPA: 3.6627
Class rank 29/258
3 AP classes and 10 ACP classes
Will graduate with Core 40 with Academic and Technical Honors Diploma

-I am in National Honors Society.
-I am in Sources of Strength.
-I am in Tack and Field for 4 years.
-I did wrestling for 3 years
-I did Football for 2 years
Out of school
-Co-fonder and President of Knights of the Holy Temple in my district.
-I am a leader in my youth group.
-Volunteer in my church and out of state in the summer.
I missed the early decision dead line, but applied for regular decision.
So I'm not sure I will make it.
Any advice will be great.

Kelley petition - necessary?
I submitted my application to IU, indicating Kelley business major, a couple weeks ago. On the website, it says that applicants who submit their info after November 1st need to fill out a petition if their stats (ACT/SAT/GPA) are below the Kelley requirement.
I have a 4.26 weighted and 34 ACT.
Do I still need to fill out a petition because I applied after 11/1? Or will I be automatically considered because both of my stats are above the required scores?

Kelley direct admission
I have a 4.0 weighted GPA and a 1350 combined SAT score, falling just 10 points short of the requirement to be a direct admit into Kelley. I didn't have any real circumstances causing me to not reach the required score. I petitioned soon after I got admitted to IU and was wondering what my chances are of being a direct admit. I was also wondering when they might notify me. Thank you

Hi everyone, I know I was checking CC and refreshing my email constantly to see if anyone had recieved a petition response, so I figured I could post my stats and answer any questions!
ACT: 31
Weighted GPA not including senior fall grades: 3.75
Sent in my petition on Nov 30, recieved a response on Jan 11
Also recieved the 20k Dean's scholarship spread out over 4 years.
I was in a unique situation where I transferred to a more difficult school who also calculated GPAs differently. I sent an email to Kelley admissions asking how they weigh senior fall grades, and if they recalculate because my new school only lists yearly GPA and never a cumulative.
In their response they stated that during review "a strong profile will have more As than Bs and show an upper ward grade trend throughout a student's high school career".

Being gay at Indiana University-Bloomington?
Hello :) I am interested in applying to IUB for reasons that are not LGBT-related. However, it is very important to me that the university I attend is accepting of the gay community. I have found that IUB is one of the top LGBT schools in the US, which is very intriguing. However, I haven't found any "proof" of why the school deserves to be on the list more than other universities. It has an LGBT center or program or something, but almost all colleges have that nowadays. I am concerned since it is located in a fairly conservative state. Is there anything LGBT-related or anything that really stands out at IUB? In your opinion, is there a good amount of LGBT persons who attend the university here? Are students generally accepting? What else should I know about being gay at IUB? If you are LGBT (or not) I'd love to hear about your personal experiences here. Thank you :)

1370/1600 SAT: 710 math
3.74 weighted gpa/4.0. My gpa went up to a 3.82 at the end of this semester, but Kelley didn't have these grades before they decided.

Interned for a political campaign
Secretary of Democrats club
Other small things.
I was also accepted to Krannert, Farmer, and Weatherhead.

Kelley Standard Admit
I am currently a high school senior planning on applying for Kelley standard admit. I'm hoping to get advice for an ideal freshman year schedule that would make it manageable to get Bs or above in all of my classes. I'm also looking for advice as for what classes I can take over the summer at a community college for credits.

Chances of getting into Indiana University - Bloomington?
I am a senior in high school and I applied to IUB in October, but have not heard back yet.
- GPA: 3.5 (unweighted) 3.7 (weighted) *my GPA may change because I have a few midterms coming up next week*
- SAT: 1060
- ACT: will take next month
- IB/Honors/DE Classes: IB German 4, US/VA Government, Dual Enrollment English 111 and 112
- EC: Marching band and Wind Ensemble all four years of high school, Future Business Leaders of America member
- Leadership/Awards: Marching band section leader for one year, International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) certificate, AB honor roll 9th and 11th grade, and National German Exam Award.
- Ethnicity: African American/Black
- Gender: Female
- Residence: Out of state
- Intended Major: Business Management/HR Management
The school emailed me and suggested to me that I take another SAT or ACT (I took the SAT twice and 1060 was my highest score) to boost my competitiveness. So if I do well on the ACT, will IUB accept me?

Kelley petition
Submitted my petition a few days after the December 1st priority deadline (December 5th). Stats: 4.4 W GPA, 1290 SAT (Old) CR + M (2000 including W). How badly are my chances hurt by submitting it shortly after the priority date? My SAT is just 10 points under the required 1300.

Can anyone shed some light on the Kelley ACE admissions process?
I received an invitation to apply for ACE. Program looks great, fast-track to honors it looks like. Looking through past years' threads, it looks like no one gets rejected. Does anyone know how selective the program really is? How many kids received applications? How many of those that filled it out get accepted? Thanks!
